Presented with three scripts that bring the clowns from sideshow alley to life.
The Solution
Last year we took it easy on the clowns as they awakened to explore their surroundings, this year they came to party. With some great ideas from WDM's creative team led by Pete Syndicas we had the opportunity to take it much further than last year.
We took a fresh look at the clowns to work out where we could get some improvement over last years execution. One of the key things was the range of movement and we made the call to build a completely new rig which gave us more control over the performance. We also retextured the clowns to get more detail and resolution which added to the richness of the commercials and provided the ability to output high-res renders that were used for the print applications. The props department also got a work out with CG bling, afro's and dreadies. A highlight for us was a session with Pete where he got a chance to sit in front of the camera and show us the sorts of performances he had in mind. Let's just say for anyone who knows Pete, he has a bit of rep for tearing up the dance floor and provided the perfect reference for the smooth moving disco clown.
The 3 spots all have something to offer with everyone having their own favourite. There were also a range of images posed up for all the print executions that have literally saturated Adelaide in all forms of media.
