Each year we are provided with a poster design and open brief to write and produce a TV commercial to promote the festival. This years poster featured a spaceman in a pink tutu, a reference back to the 60's when the festival started.
The Solution
Focusing on the anniversary and relationship back to the 60's we choose to link it with another iconic Adelaide landmark that appeared roughly around the same time. What if this iconic piece of Adelaide that often is a backdrop to the busker's that fill the mall during the festival had a greater purpose? How many of us have wondered what it's like inside?
The commercial features a mixed media approach integrating a graphic style we developed complementary to the poster design and mixed it with live action. The live action part seems to be forming a bit of a tradition where the guys behind the screens at Resin get a chance for their fleeting 30 seconds of fame. This is a rare example were we actually did the lot, from idea to the shoot which we did on a DSLR to the music which was composed by our very own Rob. It's out there, but that's what's great about working with the Fringe. The festival starts at the end of February 2010.
